“From Kobe to the Future” Kobe Bunka Hall 50th Anniversary Gala Concert
The year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Kobe Bunka Hall. In celebration of this anniversary, we present a gala concert featuring two beloved performing groups from Kobe City. Conducted by world-renowned maestro Kazuki Yamada, the special program will focus on works by Japanese composers.
Among the works to be performed are: a rare piece written in secret in Kobe in 1944 by Hisato Osawa, a modernist composer in whom Yamada has long shown an interest, and a brand-new work by Kobe-born composer Mari Kamimoto. The program also features masterpieces by Toru Takemitsu performed with a young local narrator, as well as the energetic voices of a children’s chorus assembled especially for the occasion to bring to you a truly celebratory event.
