Synopsis
The setting is Windsor, England. Falstaff – a knight notorious for his unparalleled love of wine and women, freewheeling lifestyle, and rotund pot belly – sends love letters to two wealthy and beautiful women, Alice and Meg, in an attempt to seduce them. Alice and Meg are furious when they discover that the letters sent to them at the same time are also completely identical. They decide to punish Falstaff by enlisting the help of their friend, Mistress Quickly, and Alice's daughter, Nannetta. Meanwhile, Alice's husband, Ford, learns that Falstaff has sent his wife a love letter and becomes madly jealous.
