In praise of the Port town
Kobe Jazz 100th anniversary, 70th anniversary of Hisato Osawa's death

Kobe is a port city that has long been active in exchanges with foreign countries. Hisato Osawa, a composer active from Kobe to the world, secretly wrote Christian vocal works at the end of World War II. In theater and dance, we will present a dance piece that seeks peace, a 21st century re-creation of a German masterpiece from the first half of the 20th century, a time of war, and "Jazz Daimyo" by Yasutaka Tsutsui, a new play unique to Kobe, the birthplace of the first jazz band in Japan. In December, we will present "The Creation" (Haydn), the ultimate in "creation.
