Evolving Early Music—Fermenting in a Sake Brewery in Kobe!

Toshiyuki Shibata, a native of Takamatsu, is an acclaimed traverso (Baroque flute) player active with renowned European ensembles such as La Petite Bande, Vox Luminis, and BachPlus. He currently serves as acting professor of traverso at the Conservatoire d’Aubervilliers near Paris and the Bruges Municipal Conservatory in Belgium, and is internationally recognized for his artistry and expertise.
His collaboration with keyboard virtuoso Anthony Romaniuk on J.S. Bach: Flute Sonatas was selected as a Special Recommendation by Record Geijutsu. In 2023, they were invited to the Thüringer Bachwochen, and in 2024, Shibata appeared on NHK-BS4K’s Classic Club. A new album release is scheduled for 2025.
