In Praise of Theaters
460th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth
Main Project:

The 50th Anniversary Project, celebrating 50 years since the opening of Kobe Bunka Hall, is a three-year series centered around three themes – “Port City,” “Theater,” and “People.” Throughout the years, people have laughed, cried, and expressed themselves in various performances at the theater. In 2024, the second year of the series, a variety of programs will be presented in praise of theaters – from traditional Japanese performing arts, passed down for generations in the playhouse, to innovative dance performances that push the boundaries of the human body on a boundless stage, to the operatic masterpiece of Shakespeare and Verdi, who viewed the theater as a world in itself. Today, Kobe strides forward to an exciting new stage.
